MLK Day

While most people had off from work for Martin Luther King Day, I was floating around the Internet finding some cool things. Here they are for you to enjoy.

-STEREOGUM finds a video that is even funnier now than I thought it was in 1994.

-I found a recording of the Guillemots covering Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand. If you are a fan of either band you should check it out for sure. Give it til 1:15 to kick in.

The Guillemots have another single coming out Annie, Lets not wait. I'm not too sure what I think of it, but if you like pop so sugary that your teeth may fall out then check it out.

///[MP3] Guillemots-Annie, Lets Not Wait

///[MP3] Guillemots-Take Me Out(Franz Ferdinand Cover)

-The other day I read about V2 records cutting 35 jobs and dropping its artists. That means bands like The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Moby, Blood Brothers, Whirlwind Heat, Burning Brides, The Greenhornes, and many others are free agents looking for a label. Could this mean Third Man will be getting a bit larger? Does Third Man Records still exist? Will Jack start a new label? I'm not sure, I guess we'll see. I do know that it would be pretty cool to see Jack White develop a roster of some pretty rockin bands.

Pearl Jam-Love Reign O'er Me

One side of this years Pearl Jam Ten Club single will be a cover of The Who's, Love Reign O'er Me. I know its been posted already over at I AM FUEL, WE ARE FRIENDS and Metro Distortion and probably a ton of other places but I'm gonna go ahead and do it again.

The song will end up being in the new Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle Movie, Love Reign Over Me. So look out for that, the preview looks pretty decent.

I know this has been posted just about everywhere in the last few days, but if you haven't seen this yet, then you'll be happy to see it.

Arcade Fire have a new album, Neon Bible, coming out March 6th. They've got some big shoes to fill after the success of Funeral, so we'll see how that goes.

They've begun a pretty unique promomotion for the album that included a 1-888 number you could call to hear one of the songs, Intervention. Now they've released this insane video

Low Flying Jets and The Parlor Mob

We got a chance to see these 2 bands a few months back and have been rockin' out ever since. The Parlor Mob and Low Flying Jets are both great rock bands from New Jersey, and are poised to make some waves in the national rock scene--VERY SOON.

Check out the shows they are playing together next week in NYC and Boston. If you like raw, 70's inspired rock with a modern twist, then you won't be dissapointed.

"When you’re not even halfway through your 20's, jump-starting a back-to-basics rock revolution seems a tall order. Judging by the rock ’n’ roll charisma radiated by the band members at their live shows — long-hair-tossing, instrument-abusing, generally reckless affairs — they are up to the task."
-The New York Times

"With dynamic live sets and slightly askew guitar-rock, it's no wonder the genre-breaking group from Red Bank, N.J., has earned the adulation of fans and critics alike. With experimental rock songs that add a fresh twist to the classic sounds of the 60s and 70s, the band that formed in early 2004 is set to lead a musical revolution that will capture audiences of all ages."

2007!

Hey Everybody, Happy 2007!

I know we said we'd list our favorite albums of 2006, but after all the lists out there it began to get pretty repetitive. You can still check out our recommended albums to the right, so i guess that does it.

If you haven't heard already, WDMO now is home to the Super Terrific Radio Hour hosted by Tom Doc. It runs Wends 4-6pm eastern, check it out! Its always a nice mix of classic and modern rock, rap, reggae, and anything else Doc can find in the archives. We also have the SOMA Rock Show running weekday afternoons [when we can get live talent in the studio]

Also- I mentioned that someone applied for WDMO.net and got it when we didn't renew it on time. We've re-grouped and now are back stronger than ever, like Voltron. Now we're at WDMOradio.com So update your bookmarks and tell a friend!

Check back often, we'll be updating the blog a lot more with music news and reviews. Also, we'll be doing bios on some of the local bands that we deal with. If you know of, or are part of, a band that's looking for exposure or airplay contact us on our WDMO Myspace or WDMO Email
